(NC)—Health care in Canada is beginning a modern new era. Across the country, doctors are discarding their pens and clipboards in favour of computers and hand-held devices like iPhones and Blackberries. It's all a part of the shift to electronic health record (EHR) systems and a key component of this revolution is replacing paper-based patient files with electronic medical records (EMRs).
Similar to the way computers are used to post and access information on the Internet, health professionals will use an EMR system to post and access information stored in the EHR.
You can learn about EMRs, EHRs and Canada's plan to make your health information available electronically to authorized health professionals at www.infoway-inforoute.ca.
